Welcome to my Blog!

MAC VEGAS VOLT & CREME CUP

By 08:12 , ,

I'm not sure if anybody else has noticed this on my blog, or whether it's just me, but I feel like I've been writing about nothing but lipstick recently. I really need to calm down! Anyway, I was lucky enough in the new year to win two MAC Lipstick giveaways from both Clare and Meg (thankyou both so much!) and so thought that instead of writing about them both individually, I'd do them together so that my blog doesn't turn into a total lipstick blog - I do sometimes buy other products!!

Mac Vegas Volt
Vegas Volt is from the Amplified range of formulas and is a bright, coral/orange hybrid. I've never been one to pull off this kind of shade before (I've some hidden at the back of my makeup stash which look dreadful when applied) as I'm very pale and also much more of a fan of both pink and red shades. I knew I was taking a risk when I asked for this shade although decided that as a beauty blogger I should take more risks in the products which I buy and go for something totally new, as I have plenty of pinks which I can wear already. Needless to say, I'm impressed. It doesn't have the best staying power in the world although it is creamy and glides onto the lips with ease, not drying them out in the slightest. The pigment is nice and opaque in just one swipe and it's really easy to apply quickly and thoroughly. It's my goal to get a tan this year, whether it be artificial or not, and I'm hoping that although it's a difficult shade for me to pull off at the moment I'll be able to make a lot of use out of it in the Summer!

Mac Creme Cup
A slightly more subtle lipstick, Creme Cup is a well known and popular lipstick with a Cremesheen finish. I was also nervous about trying this shade (Since blogging I think I've established that I'm nervous of trying anything that I've never tried before, haha) because it appears to be such a light pink. It did take me a while to get used to applying this as I've found that with my pale skin, applying this too heavily can make me look quite washed out as I also naturally have quite pigmented lips. Since then I've become used to applying it so that it looks sheer and is more like a quick sweep so that my makeup feels finished before I go to school. I love this for everyday use - it has nice lasting power and it'll all fade away at once so if you don't get around to re-applying, your lips won't look terrible. Similar to Vegas Volt, I think wearing this will become much easier with a tan although it's still a pretty shade which is subtle and easy to wear on a daily basis, even while I'm so pale.

These are two welcomed additions to my collection - and by collection, I mean the only other shade that I own, Chatterbox. I can't wait to pick up some more shades in the future and broaden my collection a little (I'm thinking Russian Red & Girl About Town!). What are your favourite MAC lipsticks?

    1. I love Vegas Volt! I'm probably a bit biased though as I know I couldn't pull off Morange - I suit blue toned reds a lot better! Xx

  6. I quite like both shades. I have tried on Vega Volt before and the shade's a little off for me but I'm sure I can find something that will work for me from MAC. They just have such a great selection of lipsticks!
