STILA IN THE MOMENT PALETTE

By 07:07 , ,

For a while I've been envious of everybody who has a Stila 'In The Light' palette. I've never tried any of the products from Stila before but they honestly look so nice that I've been wanting to try something for a while, and so when I won this palette in the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway by Gemma & Latasha I was honestly over the moon.

The palette contains a range of both matte and shimmery shades to create the perfect smoky look. The top line has a range of purple shades, and the bottom line a range of nude/bronze sort of colours to choose from. I feel like the palette has done it's job in deviating from the nude palette norm and has made the perfect go-between compared to a palette full of bright shades. For the first time in my life, I actually managed to resist swatching the palette before taking these photos (although I only received it the day before, so granted not too much willpower was needed).

The packaging is simple. It's a nice pretty lilac colour, so stands out in comparison to the rest of my palettes although appears to be a little on the flimsy side. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I'm expecting it to fall apart in 5 minutes or anything like that because it does kinda seem sturdy, but the cardboard like packaging makes it seem very lightweight and thin, which can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you want from a palette and whether you travel with it a lot or not. The inside of the product can be quite difficult to get to when you're not holding the palette itself too - the lid has the tendency to close by itself, which I assume is down to the cardboard packaging.
The pigment on the colours is nice - they're not too chalky and there doesn't appear to be much fallout in them when applied which is a lovely bonus, as I'm kind of used to getting fallout from other products but it's definitely a benefit. The swatches in the picture above doesn't really do the lighter colours any justice - I know that they're hardly visible in the photo but they are easily visible when applied to the lids with primer, and are great to quickly put over the lids for an everyday look. That said, it would be silly to expect a nude colour to look just as pigmented as the black.

The whole palette costs £25. At first it seems like a lot but once you consider the fact that there is also a pencil eye liner inside (worth £14 alone), it seems a lot more budget friendly to get all 10 of the shades for £11. That's like £1.10 per colour! I definitely want to take a look at some of the other Stila Palettes in the future as I can definitely see myself getting a lot more use out of this.
