MAC LIPSTICK IN PINK NOUVEAU

By 16:38 , ,

In a recent post about Tanya Burr's lip glosses I mentioned that I won a giveaway from Lola. In the box she sent I was lucky enough to be sent a whole range of products that I love, with this beloved lipstick being one of them.

Pink Nouveau was a shade I'd heard of many times but never plucked up the courage to buy - the instant somebody says 'Barbie Pink' I become mortified and vow never to go near the shade. I'm not sure why I was so scared of it - I think I had imagined it to be a bit like St Germain, a shade I'd never be able to pull off.

The lipstick has a Satin finish and whilst it isn't technically a matte formula, it's definitely on the matte-er side. There is little shine when the product is applied to the lips (it looks matte) and it is slightly, but not dreadfully drying (it feels matte). The shade really is a barbie pink, although it's quite a medium shade and so suits even pale people like myself. One thing that did impress me was the lasting power. Usually I expect products to have worn off by break (about 2/3 hours wear, approx 11am) although it was still going strong. I even had somebody notice I was wearing a new lipstick and ask which shade it was - WINNING!!! By about 3pm it had pretty much disappeared and so I'd recommend taking this with you in the day to reapply at around Lunchtime, but for short visits out, you're good to go without it!

At £15, I wouldn't go and pick up this on a whim (I wouldn't pick up anything from MAC on a whim, not even a pencil sharpener) although it's definitely become one of my favourite lip products at the moment. It's probably partially because I don't own any colours similar to this and I've never really thought to try one before.

What are your favourite shades from MAC?

  1. MAC Lipsticks do have amazing lasting power - Russian Red lasted from about 5pm-12pm the other night, through Nando's and everything!

  2. Sounds like a girly pretty shade, although I suspect it might be a bit too pink for me so I definitely need to try it before ordering it :o) Xx

  8. The formula sounds exactly what I look for, I love matte but I hate that it can make my skin super dry so this sounds ideal! Lovely colour too xxx
